Mobile Website Basic

Why your business  need a Mobile Website?

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for a few years, you know the world has gone “mobile.”  Mobile is booming like crazy right now, there’s no doubt about that whatsoever. Business owners are finally seeing the true potential in marketing to the 5+ billion handheld devices available today.

When you think of about your business website, you need to think about two websites: a traditional website and a mobile website. If you don’t have a mobile website, your business may not be able to take advantage of the current mobile revolution.

The statistics are pretty crazy really. There are now more mobile phones in use worldwide than there are people to use them.

In other words, many people have more than one mobile phone. Are you one of them?

Now, some of these devices can’t connect to the internet, but many of them can. In fact, I heard Apple recently announced that it is selling more iPad units than desktop/laptop Macs.
This trend has left many website owners dazed and confused.

They’re thinking things like…

“Do I really need to build a mobile-specific website?”

“Should I consider having a mobile app created?”

“If I build a mobile-friendly website, should I build a website separate from my main one, or have my main one re-coded on some sort of a “responsive” framework?”

“If I build a separate website for mobile, how do mobile visitors end up seeing it?”
…and the list goes on.

While I don’t intend to give specific answers to each of the questions, above, I will say that most business owners should look at their website on a mobile device.

If the text appears tiny, or requires “zooming/panning,” a mobile-friendly website is probably in order.

There are other issues to consider as well. If your site doesn’t load quickly on a smartphone, or if you are using any elements built with Flash, you are likely losing visitors to other websites.

None of the iOS devices (Apples iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch) display Flash, so if you are using it, some (or all) of your website will disappear when viewed on an Apple device.

If you decide to build a stand-alone site for mobile, make sure you install a quality mobile device detect script.

That’s the bit of technology that gets added to your regular website. Its job is to show your mobile site to mobile visitors, and your regular site to non-mobile visitors.
